Free measure and blueprint
Once you have a price and want to go ahead, we measure the site, draw up a blueprint and give you a firm written quote, all free.
- Step 4
Made and installed
We cut and sew it in our Rydalmere factory, then install and tension it and take you through care and the warranty.
Repairs
Torn sail? Start with a photo.
We repair seams, replace worn fittings and re-tension sails, including ones we didn’t install. Send a view of the whole structure and the damage so we can discuss the next step.

- Repair or replace. Sound fabric can be re-stitched. Worn-out fabric is replaced with a new sail.
- Reinstall. We put the sail back up, pull it tight and check it before you use the area again.
Do I need council approval?
In our experience of ordinary home enquiries, almost never. What decides it is the size of the sail, how high it sits, where it sits on the block and what else is on the land, and the NSW rules set those limits: how council approval works in NSW.
Will it survive Sydney storms and wind?
It is built to. We design each structure to the Australian and New Zealand standard (AS/NZS) for the wind at your site. If your job needs a certified engineered design, we design it for you and then build to that design. Which standards apply →
Shade cloth or waterproof PVC?
Shade cloth blocks the sun and lets air through. Waterproof PVC keeps the rain off; how much of the area stays dry depends on the roof shape and the open sides. Choose by how you use the space.
How long will it last?
Most of the shade cloth and waterproof PVC we use carries a 10 to 20 year manufacturer’s warranty, depending on the fabric. Around Sydney we have seen it last about twice as long as its warranty. Posts often outlast the fabric. Ask us for the written warranty on the fabric you choose.
How much does it cost?

Can you provide engineering certification?
Yes. On request we supply structural engineering certification for your sail or structure, covering footings, fixings and wind loading. Tell us about any council or project documentation requirements when you enquire.
Can I visit the factory?
Yes, in the early morning, while the team gets ready for the day’s work on site. Please call us first. The factory is at 40 Bridge Street, Rydalmere.
